Christmas Day, 1972

It’s Christmas Day! What was I doing 51 years ago on this very day? Well, I’m lucky enough to have pictures of that. Here I am just short of 2 years old, with a new trike and my modest few pressies. This was just one of two Christmas Days with no siblings (yet).

A different era. Wee Jimmy Osmond was the UK’s Chart number 1 with ‘Long Haired lover from Liverpool’. TV specials that night were by the Goodies, The Liver Birds and the Two Ronnie’s. Gran would bake a traditional fruit Christmas cake, complete with marzipan and white icing.

These photos were taken at Stonefield Crescent when we all lived with my gran Duncan. Mum Janet and Dad Joe are pictured, dressed for a family walk down the Calder before the chaos of a Christmas dinner. I don’t remember this far back in my life, so I’m thrilled to have these photos.

Whatever you’re doing today, I hope you and yours have a wonderful, fun and peaceful time!
