Taken (I think in the 1972), this is High Blantyre photographed from Sydes Brae Bing, looking over to Blantyre Old Parish Church. Craigmuir is on the left hand side and the church manse on the right, just beside Douglas Street.
These ‘Glebe’ fields are now all built upon with modern homes and of course the EK Expressway is now roaring through the front of this picture. Things certainly looked quieter back then. Who remembers this scene? Shared by Claire Murray.
