Another two photos of Main Street, a century apart. The older black and white 1920’s photo compares to the modern colour photo of the 2020’s. I wonder what residents of Blantyre would have made of the modern era?!
The profile of the road and pavements hasn’t changed too much, apart from being slightly raised. The tenements on the right, largely all gone, though the Masonic hall remains in both photos. The overgrown garden on the little derelict cottage on the right has recently been cleared as the owners prepare for next ownership and possibly demolition.
