This is the Jack family from Stonefield Road, Blantyre. The Photo was taken in the late 1800s and is shared here by Ken Shaw. James Jack & Agnes Jack (Marshall) pictured had 12 children, 8 in photo, 6 of each sex.
The children emigrated to USA & Australia. Ken told me, “I’m the grandchild of one of the children Agnes
Jack, married to Moses Shaw, coalminer.” It’s a great photo to have, looking back on ancestors. To others reading this article, a great photo if only for the fashions of the time.
Does anybody else here come from a BIG family?
I believe this is my Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother, with the youngest boy in this being Andrew my Great Grandfather. Not all of the children emigrated, though Andrew went to Canada then came back with my Grandfather being born in Canada and returning at 1 year old. Amazing picture never seen this before. Remember my grandfather talking about his Grandfather and his big red bushy beard!
