How about this for a nostalgic photo. This is 107 – 125 Glasgow Road (part of the former Co-op’s building). In the photo is JR Reid, Glen Travel, Lucky House Takeaway, Godfrey’s and the Electrical Corner shop at Jackson Street.
This looks like the late 1970s, just a few years before the boards went up. JR Reid and Glen Travel would go on to have other premises. Prior to 1972, the co had its boot department here, as well as fruit, hardware and lasting a little longer than that, the co-op hall behind and upstairs.
