Tony Jervis messaged this photo saying, “I took the attached photo on 13 Feb 1993 near the end of a walk from Strathaven to Blantyre Station largely via the old railway line but have been unable to locate what or exactly where it is (was?). My notes from the time say only that it was at Auchenraith somewhere between the Blantyre Colliery disaster memorial and the railway bridge at the foot of John Street. “

This photo looks over to Auchinraith Road, the building in the background being where Beaton’s coaches used to be at the side of the timber houses. You can just make out some of the coaches. The building in the foreground, was the old Incinerator. This wasn’t far from where the Auchinraith Club used to be and where the former Bakery was…. though the picture is quite difficult to put in context now.
