Staying with the subject of the former Caldergrove House, this bizarre turret was the gazebo on the roof of the building.
Photographed in 1983, before demolition, I’m actually hoping somebody can tell me the purpose of this. Was it a quiet, reading or reflection room? Did it have a purpose of house something else? Was it accessed only from the door pictured?
Ot would have certainly had a good view for Caldergrove was HIGH at 3 stroreys. four if you count part of the basement which sat partially above ground at the back.
