Apples at High Blantyre Cross

Just look at this! I took these photos in early November 2020 at Main Street, High Blantyre. The tree is abundant with apples.

Whilst this tree next to the Cornerstone has apples on it every year, this year in particular has had an incredible crop. It made me wonder if it was something to do with lockdown, the lack of cars, the abundance of insects or the weather we had in spring and summer?

Its easy to miss them, as they look like leaves but there is literally hundreds and hundreds. This tree is in a private garden, but a large part of it overhangs into the little grassy triangle park near the cross.

It got me thinking about the abundance of fruit in and around Blantyre that simply never gets harvested is left to rot.
