Lots of people reading this website will have fond memories of popular Blantyre business, Hasties Farm. Named after David Hastie the former owner of Stonefield Farm, the business was owned by Bob Brown. Here’s a peek inside of what it looked like pre 1975.
The hard wooded tables and seats providing a rustic charm against the stone walls. Many Blantyre items of memorabilia decorated the walls and ceilings including dozens of old miner’s lamps. This was a well known venue for entertainment, eating and drinking out in Blantyre, a concept fairly ahead of its time. People may remember chicken in a basket and other culinary dishes of the 70s.

The food was great. I got Jock Stein’s autograph there, it was a popular hang out for footballers in the 1970s. Blantyre looked like a war zone at the time. Hastie’s Farm resembled an oasis. There was never any trouble and everybody was friendly. It resembled an old Country pub with live entertainment.
My grandmother was his sister and most people in our family knew him as Robert. My mum called him Uncle Robert.
