Scott Browne who lives in Canada has shared this photo, which was taken in the 1930’s in Hardie Street not too long after the houses were built the previous decade. This is a zoomed in extract of a postacard of Hardie Street with Scott providing a high resolution copy.
He told me, “My relatives lives at 6 Hardie Street until 1960’s or later. My gran was born in 1908, Jane Stewart and her parents were Malcolm and Ann (nee Kelly). I’m hoping somebody will maybe even know living relatives as I know nothing of my Scottish family.
The photo is Craig Street looking down Hardie Street. Scott told me that on the back of the photo is says the boy is John Stewart (who died in 1944 in Italy). Dechmont Hill is in the background.
