Jimmy Lanaghan, 1939

Ellen Buchanan sent in this photo and said, “This is my Dad Jimmy (Feg) Lanaghan serving in WW2 1939-1945 x”

Pictured around 1939, Jimmy was originally a coal miner before being called up for WW2. He was amongst the first groups of men to be called to fight. Jimmy and his wife, Isobel lived in miner’s terraced homes in Blantyre.

He was awarded 4 Medals for his services including the Burma Star.
