Further photos of the demolition work during 1981 along Glasgow Road. The vantage point is former Jackson Street looking towards the demolition of the Co-Op Central premises on the right hand side and the 2 storey tenement formally named “Avon Buildings”.
The road in the foreground is Jackson Street and Glasgow Road is beyond the red car on the left, running behind the tenements. You may remember the Lucky House Chinese Takeaway, Co-op shoes and Fruit departments, or the small electrical shop at the corner of Jackson Street?
You can just about see the telephone exchange across the road near Forrest Street.
