The newly renovated Blantyre Soccer Academy Community Hub is now officially open!
An opening ceremony was held this evening, Friday 13th September 2019 with the ribbon cut at 6.30pm by Council leader, Cllr John Ross and depute leader Cllr Maureen Chalmers.
The sun was out as a small crowd of guests watched the ribbon being cut and heard from John about what as asset the hall is for Blantyre. A little later, inside after guests were given a tour, BSA Chairman Jimmy Whelan proudly said some words of thanks to all the hard working people who had made the renovation possible.
We were amongst invited guests to witness the new transformation, taking some notes before drinks and food.
The former Rowan Hall , just off Glasgow Road has been transformed into this amazing new community hub. Tastefully decorated throughout, it is in effect a new hall, with little trace left of the existing structure. Renovated inside and out, finished to high quality standards, we were hugely impressed. There is a large toilet, stores, office, a kitchen, washing room for kits and the great meeting space. Everything, new and shiny.
Its hard to believe this property was bought from South Lanarkshire Council for just £1! There’s absolutely no doubt, this is a huge milestone in the continuing story of BSA’s success. We wish everybody there all the best for the future.
Why have they used ‘soccer’, an Americanism, rather than’football’?
