Blantyre Vics 1914

Aileen Hamilton has shared this great photo of Blantyre Victoria Football Club. Taken around 1914, just before the outbreak of war, the location looks like Castle Park, just off Forrest Street.

The Championship cup in the foreground has the date (isn’t it great when group photos record the year!). I couldn’t help but wonder if some of these young men ended up being listed into service duty in WW1 and indeed who many people in this photo were still alive 5 years later.
