Young Steven Robertson of Blantyre (pictured left) joined the RAF in May 1980.
By July of that year, just 2 months later, his career was already “flying high”. In fact, he did SO well at training that at his passing out parade, his reviewing officer presented him with an award for being “best recruit”.
He enlisted as a mechanic involved in the vital works that keep the RAF flying. Steven’s parents at the time lived in Hardie Street, Blantyre.
