Fulston’s Ceiling Collapse

1968 George Fulston Ceiling collapse

In January 1968, following a large storm, tenants at the former tenements at 38 Hunthill Road had enough, when their ceiling and walls were extensively damaged. Here, 22 year old George Fulston invited SNP politician Winnie Ewing to inspect the damage.

George’s parents had been complaining about the condition of the tenements for many years and the recent storm had been the last straw. The County Council had refused to demolish the property despite signs of subsidence and Mrs Ewing had promised to help.
