Progress Update
After a slight delay and little visible work being carried out last week, work has commenced again on the Auchentibber War Memorial. As these pictures show, taken last Saturday 13th October 2018, the memorial (currently being completely rebuilt), now once again has its familiar shape.
It’s been scaffolded and is approaching its finished height, with all decorative facing work planned for the next fortnight. All being well, the memorial should be finished at the end of October leaving some time for soft landscaping, before the 11th November, remembrance day, which this year also marks 100 years since the end of WW1.
The rebuild of this important Blantyre Memorial commemorating the deaths of 14 local men was necessary due to its deteriorated condition. The work is funded by a grant.
