In October 1922, such was the demand for Maternity space in the Hospital in Bellshill, that the sick children there were moved all over to Blantyre, to the cottage hospital on Bardykes Road. It is noted in local news reports, this filled the hospital in Blantyre to capacity, but eased the Bellshill situation hugely.
Pictured is the former Cottage Hospital, now a lovely home overlooking the Calder Braes.
