Intelligent Signage

Screen Shot 2017-07-23 at 11.34.36You know how I like to record things, even modern events.

Well, Drivers on Saturday 22nd July 2017, certainly noticed something modern at roadworks on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway, with the inside lane on the approach to Raith coned off that day.

This was due to the installation of brand new overhead, large intelligent signage, a first for Blantyre. The large electronic display boards are now installed just before Bothwell Bridge, at the curve where the new Raith works start, although took some time afterwards to become operational.

Information like driving time to Glasgow, any roadworks, obstructions, diversion and general safety messages will be displayed to assist drivers.

Davy Thomson Still not seen it working yet Paul,, and I drive by it every morning
Rena Dick Trees on approach could do with being cut back to allow sign to be clearly seen!
James Nicholl Accident waiting to happen. At wrong position? Cant see until on bend, its more a distraction then anything useful.
Ronald Skimming Best thing they can do is leave it switched off unless it’s got something meaningful to say.
Arleen MacLeod Perrie It’s been up for ages and never been on (2nd Oct 17), daft place for it right on a bend!
Andy Callaghan What I want to know is why are there now traffic lights on the wee roundabout on Bothwell road immediately after Bothwell Bridge. The roundabout functioned perfectly well without lights. The lights cause tailbacks all the way back towards Hamilton. Just seems a ridiculous and unnecessary addition. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
