In mid April 1978, former Blantyre lady Margaret Kerr (nee McDade) was elected to a top Chamber of Commerce job in London.
When Margaret became President of Ealing Chamber of Commerce she was only the 2nd lady ever to hold the position. Mrs Kerr was born in Blantyre and lived there until 1955, when she left after marrying a man from Ealing.
Her father Hugh McDade still lived in Blantyre during the late 1970’s and her brother and sisters still lived there locally at the time. In 1978, Mrs Kerr had a 16 year old daughter. The picture shows Margaret receiving the chain of office from the former President.
