1978 Blantyre Nursery Centre

1978 Blantyre Nursery Centre wmPassers by to Blantyre Nursery Centre would have heard more than the normal children’s laughter coming from the building in April 1978.

The children had been making music all week after receiving £250 worth of musical instruments from Blantyre & District Round Table. Instruments included a piano, cymbals, drums, tambourines and triangles were presented to Mrs Judy Rankine.

Judy, who ran the Nursery centre in the old St Joseph’s Primary School building on Glasgow Road received the gifts from the Round Table’s retiring chairperson, Mr Robin Douglas during a dinner. The children set about immediately practising for an open day held the following week.
