RIP – Elaine Campbell McQuade

It’s with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I learned today that Blantyre lady Elaine Campbell McQuade (54) passed away suddenly in Hairmyres Hospital yesterday. I’ve written up a little tribute dedicated to her life below.

Elaine was a lovely, lovely lady, kind and caring and was incredibly popular. She had been battling an illness for some time. I’m sure this sad news will shock and touch many lives today.

She was a former pupil of Elmwood Secondary School in Bothwell. After leaving school in 1977, in her adult life she worked as a stock controller with Simplicity Patterns until 1999. However, most of us will associate Elaine with the Co-operative Funeral Shop in Glasgow Road, Blantyre, where she was since 2001, a very caring Funeral arranger. She was a remarkable, courageous woman. Very spiritual and loved animals, especially her little Westie. Her lovely nature touched a lot of hearts. The kindness and compassion she showed to families in their own sad times, will never be forgotten.

As tributes pour in from messages all over Facebook, the Veverka family send our sincere sympathies to her young son, Ronan and the rest of her family. Blantyre is immersed in sadness today at a life taken so young.

I leave this sad post with this message to reflect upon. Written by Elaine on her Facebook bio page in her own words……

“Live your life as if every day is your last. Love & appreciate with all your heart”

Rest in Peace Elaine. x

  1. I’m in the same IPF Facebook group as Elaine was. In fact we exchanged messages on Saturday. Can’t believe she passed away the next day. So so sad. My deepest sympathy to Ronan.
