As we all know, its been dry now since the start of May 2017, with milder sunny weather, something we all enjoy. However, just like other parts of the UK, its not just gardens that are affected, Blantyre’s water areas have been exposed to the small drought.
Falls have all but dried up in certain place, the surrounding rivers are very low, but the most noticeable impact has been Niaroo Pond, near the Pech Brae. That pond has dried up entirely and is completely gone!
Of course theres a serious side to this, for this pond was established to attract wildlife and only a fortnight ago was packed full of tadpoles and insects. The shurbs, reeds and flowers planted around the waters edge in recent months are struggling too.
Who would have thought we’d be hoping for some rain again?!
