The first case in Hamilton Sheriff Court ever to be heard under the Control of Wireless Telegraphy Act. 1904, concerned James McLean, a miner, Greenside Street, Blantyre in December 1926.

James was fined 20s for installing and working a wireless set without a license. It was said by the Fiscal that the complaint was as warning to other wireless “pirates” in Lanarkshire that such new technology in homes was to have a license at all times before its use.
