Blantyre Weir 1904

1904-blantyre-weir-wmHopefully you’ll not have seen this photo before. It was taken in 1904, around the time when the Blantyre Mills were being partially demolished.

The River Clyde thunders over the Blantyre Weir at a time when Shuttle Row and the surrounding homes were being condemned. To be honest , the scene is still quite familiar, although noticeably the trees are now much larger, a century on.
