This great photo was sent to me from Robert Stewart who found this little mole, lost above ground at Milheugh in 2000. I’ve never seen a “Blantyre” mole before, as they’re so rarely observed in the daylight or above ground.
There is evidence of moles in the parkland at Milheugh and Greenhall, by the moleearth formed in little heaps above ground. I’ve attached a photo of these mole mounds which i took in Sept 2015.
Did you know? Moles are solitary creatures, coming together only to mate. Territories may overlap, but moles avoid each other and males may fight fiercely if they meet.
