Craighead Park, turn of Millennium
This is Craighead Park, pictured in the 1990s, or at least what was left of it. The council have now taken over this former football ground and built a council owned yard on it, accessed at the very bottom of Forrest Street and run their facilities, waste and ground services department from it.
People in Blantyre will gave fond memories of the former Blantyre Celtic ground or the many football matches which played there over the whole of the 20th Century. Photo courtesy of G Kelly.

My older brother Michael Fascione played with Blantyre Victoria and Blantyre Celtic and also with Albion Rovers in between he was a midfield player but passed away in Toronto Canada in 2016.
I played left back 1966-. 69 and had two league games in a row in Goals when we had no goalie and conceded no goals, I was Captain in season 68-69, I am Vincent Fascione. I loved playing with the Hoops !
Got an unfiendly welcome back in 1971 when I played midfield v the wee Hoops at Craighead Park in a Sunday West of Scotland game when I signed for Thorniewood United.
