1989 Rev Peter O Price cuts turf for new hall, High Blantyre.
The occasion here in High Blantyre is cutting the turf to begin the construction of the Old Parish Church Hall. The date is 1989 and pictured is Rev Peter O’Price of High Blantyre Old Parish Church, conducting the ceremony and blessing of the new proposed hall. At the same month, the demolition across Main Street of the former Church Halls at the corner of Hunthill Road was to take place.
The new hall was a great success. Whilst not as grand as the older hall, it was on church owned land and proved popular and handy for fetes and church functions.
It has been a great success and in June 2015, saw the creation of a small car park outside it, improving access.
