Pictured here in 1945 is Mr. James Dunlop, who was the headmaster at Auchinraith Primary School. Alongside, a couple of decades earlier is his wife.
Auchinraith Primary School opened in August 1900 and was extended in 1905. Its first headmaster was Mr. Joseph McNish, who died very soon after in 1903. He was succeeded by John Welsh, then Mr James Brown. However fate played a part when WW1 asked for all men to enlist who were capable of fighting and Mr Brown died in 1915 in combat.
