I recently met with Alex Rochead and Gordon Cook for coffee in April 2015. We got to discussing the old Hardie Street postcard and what was in the background. Was it the Gasworks of Stonefield Road? Was it the Larkfield Bing?
Alex clarified the mystery by taking a modern photo of Hardie Street which shows a clear view of Dechmont Hill on the horizon. Hardie Street may have been structured in that exact fashion to give the best view across to Dechmont.
