Having just recently completed my book “The History of Crossbasket”, I found myself with many images of Crossbasket Castle over the decades. Many of which were sent in by friends and colleagues. This photo is from the early 1980’s, sent in by Gordon Cook. Pictured from the South in the estate grounds, is Crossbasket Castle, still complete with its grey render.
The 1980’s saw a lot of work done to the grounds of Crossbasket Estate with some of the walls rebuilt, the lade cleaned out and flower beds and paths tended to. Sadly though, the inside of the building had already seen better days and the maintenance of the outside fabric of the building was a constant effort.
