Keep the Home Fires Burning

I was recently contacted by Andrew Henderson who has been working with South Lanarkshire Council on a project called, “Keep The Homefires Burning“. They will be putting on a performance at the end of March 2015 in Rutherglen Town Hall about the people of South Lanarkshire during World War 1. The performance will include readings of poems, letters, articles and songs.

Several WW1 stories, photos and articles from Blantyre Project were recently provided to Andrew for the use in the performance, which is being screened on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th March 2015. Andrew has  put together a series of clips to be projected behind the stage to accompany the readings and now has access to some photos of Blantyre and its wartime sons and daughters from the time. Whilst not all the links sent to him may be incorporated into the show, if you’re interested in WW1 history in this local area, please show your support by coming along to the Town Hall at the end of the month. Thanks.
