I love Blantyre humour, and this is definitely it at its best! Recently, the “Big H” sculpture at High Blantyre roundabout was dismantled and removed. (Quite right too, it represented HAMILTON Technology Park!). A discussion arose on Blantyre Project about what sculpture would be fitting there instead. Blantyre residents have spoken. Today, I would like to shake the hand to the witty and wonderful person who took the time to put up this “new sculpture!”

Thanks to Alex Rochead for these photos, which were a lot clearer than my own effort. As i write this, i cant help but feel it may turn into an icon, just like the traffic cone on Duke of Wellington’s head in Glasgow. If it does, the instigator of this monument will surely go down in Blantyre legend and myth.
