Pictured here in 1905, only 12 years after they opened, are High Blantyre Church Halls.
The building still looks new, with the windows, slates and stonework all in pristine condition. The vantage point is in front of the pub at School Lane (now the Cornerstone, of which the door is pictured on the right – now a window on the modern pub). A horse approaches main street, coming up from Hunthill Road on the right.
In the background you can just about see the railway bridge crossing over Main Street at High Blantyre Station.
This photograph was taken by David Ritchie, who lived further down Main Street on this same side. I recently found out that David is my 2nd Great Grand Uncle, following the picture being shared here from distant relative, Alex Bowie.
