The Haven have informed me that the August 2014 edition of the Blantyre Project monthly newsletter raised £102.41, a record month! That’s about 204 people picking up a copy of the newsletter in and around Blantyre. Thank you to everybody who put money into the collection tins. For August alone, the tins had:
RBS £18.01
Blantyre Miners Welfare £5.11
Blantyre Library £29.70
Jinxys Bakery £49.32
The Haven Centre was opened in May 2002 to provide care, complementary therapies and information to people affected by life limiting illness such as Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and Huntington’s Disease and also to their carers and family members.
Adding the £102.41 to the previous total of £189, gives a revised amazing total of £291.41 raised for the Haven Charity in Victoria Street, Blantyre. September’s newsletter has been on sale at 50p at the above businesses for the last 2 weeks and October’s is out in a fortnight. I’m absolutely thrilled that the Haven are directly financially benefiting from interest in Blantyre’s history. Keep up the good work.
