How fortunate we are to live in the times we do. Two recent photos sent in by Susan Dunsmuir brought it home just how tough things were, when generations of the same family went off to make the ultimate sacrifices and fight for their loved ones and their country in times of war.

Pictured here is David and Anne Dunsmuir around the time of the first world war. Unlike many of his fellow soldiers, David thankfully survived the first world war and went on to have a family. Also pictured in the middle is David Dunsmuir, their son, fighting in the Second World War. These brave men headed off with many other Blantyre men and boys to flight in the Great Wars.
