I recently received an email where Blantyre Project reader Muir Wasson, kindly scanned and provided some old photos of Blantyre. Muir wrote, “I was brought up in Blantyre from by birth in 1935 until I left in 1957 and have many memories of that time. We lived first in Morris crescent and then in Monteith place. I have a few photos though most of poor quality. My father Robert Wasson was active in the St John’s Ambulance and the Anderson Church. These are from this time though I can’t be precise as to the exact years.”

I used to live next door to Muir Wasson in Monteith Place. My brother and I used to buy our sweets at Mrs Nicolsons’ shop on the end of Farm Road. My name is Eileen Black my brother is Gordon. This site brings back so many fond memories of people and places of so long ago. Thanks for that, Must keep looking
