High Blantyre Grocery Theft

In 1952, John Lamond (36). 3 Craig Street, Dundee, and Samuel Wood (31). Lochlie Street. High Blantyre, were sent to prison for sixty days at Dundee Sheriff Court Wood was released from prison in January 1952. They admitted stealing groceries from stationary van opposite No. 47 Reform Street, and a box containing a dozen eggs from a stationary lorry in Craig Street. The offences occurred Thursday 10th January 1952. (Lamond admitted one previous conviction, and Wood seven. Mr John G. Ross, solicitor, told Sheriff Cullen that Lamond and Wood met during the morning and had been drinking. They were drunk at the time of the offences and remembered nothing.
