There are 307 names remembered on the WW1 plaque on Blantyre War Memorial at High Blantyre Cemetery. A further 9 names have been added inscribed into the stonework below the plaque. As such the War Memorial remembers 316 Blantyre people who died in that conflict. I’ve transcribed them all below in the hope of telling their unique stories. However, I’m convinced MORE people died and have set out a task to have them remembered too as noted at the very end of this page. With another 3 found, there are now 319 names.
