Sorry I contacting you at the wrong site. I have not been well lately and been trying to finishing a number of family history project including my bio of David Livingstone's brother John. My question really relates to his family in Hamilton and not about John Livingstone.

We know from the 1851 Scottish Census that Neil (mistakenly referred to as Alexander Livingston in that census residing with wife Agnes and their two children Janet and Agnes are residing at that time at 46 Almada Street in Hamilton. This also verified by a letter written from Kuruman, Africa in 1851 from Dr. Livingstone to his daughter in which her address is also 46 Almada St.

What I am wondering is when precisely the Livingstone family relocated to Ulva Cottage located I understand at 17 Burnbank Road. I do know from the subsequent 1861 Scottish Census information that the widow Agnes Livingstone and family are by this time residing at a residence recorded in this census as being on "Burnbank Road".  No number but if count down the census page from top of the page family who are residing at 23 Burbank Rd. it appears that the Livingstones were residing at 19 Burnbank Rd, but actually it is  was 17 Burnbank where Ulva Cottage I realize. In the 1861 Census confirms they were living in the area where that old building still stand with a Livingstone memorial plaque on Burnbank Rd.

So we know they still residing at 46 Almada Street their original home in Hamilton from the 1851 Census info and sometime between 1851 and the time of the 1861 Census they relocated to 17 Burnbank Rd. Dr. Livingstone returned from Africa for the first time in December of 1856 and then he departed for Africa once more in 1858. So I assume then that he acquired the house at 17 Burnbank Rd (Ulva Cottage) for his family sometime in the 1857 and 1858 period. Clearly according to 1861 Census by 1861 and I am assuming before 1861 Dr. Livingstone had his mother and his two sisters moved to Burnbank Rd. I have read a number of David Livingstone biographies, but I have not found one yet that mentions when his family relocated to 17 Burnbank Road (Ulva Cottage). Have you over the years come across a precise date when the Livingstones relocated to 17 Burnbank Rd?
