An ancestor David Blantyre Strang haled from Blantyre I assume.

Having being ascribed as being native to Lanark, the surname seems to be/have been especially plentiful in Blantyre.

In your records, are there any with reference to the above gentleman with possible birth between 1823-1850. His father/son was a Matthew Strang who like David, was a missionary (David to Jamaica to escape the bad air of the time I believe).
