An ancestor David Blantyre Strang haled from Blantyre I assume.
Having being ascribed as being native to Lanark, the surname seems to be/have been especially plentiful in Blantyre.
In your records, are there any with reference to the above gentleman with possible birth between 1823-1850. His father/son was a Matthew Strang who like David, was a missionary (David to Jamaica to escape the bad air of the time I believe).

Hello, I've been looking for the same fellow. He apparently was my paternal grandfather's father.
I do have a few mentions of him in family records.
One record was titled 'The Jacobean Tapestry' which dealth with DBS's life and as you said, leaving Scotland for health reasons.
