My family was from Blantyre and Halfway. My great grandfather was Samuel Graham of 15 Springwell Terrace and later moved to Auchenraith Terrace when the houses were first built. I have two questions:

1. Does anyone know exactly where no. 15 was? I understood the house was where Robertsons was built but there is no one left alive in the family to confirm it and I don't remember anything other than Robertsons there when I was a wean.

2. For some reason Samuel's parents' name was Minnis and was then changed to Graham. Is there a record of the Minnis family in Blantyre? My research leads me to believe that Sam's father, Robert Minnis, was Irish and he was married to Mary Boyle in Partick. Could the name change be something to do with not  wanting to appear to be Irish at a time when many mining jobs in the area were being given to cheaper Irish labour? It could of course be that the name change was to avoid paying debts or even because of something criminal.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
