Good afternoon, I an researching my family history and know that my great grandfather George Crawford (was born to a Sarah Crawford of Bute (1870 -1916) and that his fathers name was John Reid, apparently a coal overseer who was allegedly from Hamilton / Blantyre area.  They did not marry and there is no further family information about him. Obviously the John Reid who lived at The Cairns is too young, but I wondered if you had come across any information about his Father when researching The Cairns. I know I'm clutching at straws, but my dad is now 86 with end stage renal failure and this is the only piece of our family tree that is missing.
