Hey I was just wondering if you could help me put up a post or help me to find out if anyone knew my mums mum and dad of springwell crescent Blantyre their names were Jeannie Millar and Robert Paterson my mum only has 2 photos of both of them due to losing most of her pictures and belongings when moving when she was younger so was just to see if anyone has any information or pictures of them or knows of any relatives related to them her mum was born in 1912 and her dad was born in 1900 xx
Hopefully people will remember this couple. This is a litle too modern a story for my usual research given there’ss living memory connected but meantime, to assist this query and always wanting to be of some help, I was able to find out that Jeannie had full name Jeannie Law Millar and she got married to Robert in Blantyre in 1949. The marriage certicate being under 100 years old would have to be paid for to be retrieved.
Unusually for the 1940s couple were nearing middle age by the time of their wedding, which could suggest there’s a possibility that each of them were previously married. Springwell Crescent had been built only the decade earlier so those homes would have been relatively new at the time. Paterson and Millar are both very prominent, strong Blantyre names, (which makes research quite difficult), but can hopefully lead to readers being able to directly help. D
