Whilst researching my family tree, I obtained a copy of the Passenger List for the ship my Uncle travelled to America on in 1955. I was very surprised to see that his last address in Scotland was given as ”Livingstone Memorial, Blantyre”. I have no idea why that should be the case as I understood that he lived in Wishaw. I was wondering if you could possibly shed any light on this? I would attach a copy of the relevant document if I could. Incidentally, although I have lived in London for many years, I was born and brought up in Motherwell and have many fond memories of school trips to the Livingstone Memorial in the 1960s

Many thanks,

Helen Brandon

Hi Helen - That is strange as you say. The Livingstone Memorial wouldnt have had any houses or accommodation at the time, unless he was a security guard there? The Museum did have valuable collections so it was not uncommon for guards (a singular guard) to be there during nights. Its a good question for me to post about. Perhaps somebody would be able know more. Feel free to email anything over in connection with this. My email is paul@blantyreproject.com cheers. Paul
