Hello Paul.

I am so happy to have found your site.  It is full of wonderful history!

I am researching Archibald McPhail (born abt 1873) and his wife Elizabeth Purdon (born about 1800) I find them in the Census of 1841 with their family including my ancestor, Joseph aged 1 month.  I have Joseph's birth record stating he was born 11 Jun 1840.

I would like to write my story of Joseph giving some background of his life in Blantyre in the 1840-1860 time frame.  I would really like to be able to use social and historical details to bring color to what his life was like.

He went on to become a grain miller, living first near Holytown, then finally settling in Kilmarnock for 11 years before finally moving to Glasgow until his death in 1815.

Any help you can lend will be much much better than what I currently have.

Please let me know if you think you can help me.

Thanks so much

Marnie Elmer
