Hi,

I was wondering if you could possible help me find any information on my Great Gran please? She was born Mary Mellon (21/10/1897) at 35 Watson's Row, Larkfield, Blantyre. Her parents were Patrick Mellon, a miner, and Annie Fallon (Fallin, Fallen also recorded)

In the 1891 census her parents were living at 16 Hall Street with 4 children Peter, John, Annie and James (3 months old). By the 1901 census my gg was 3 years old and living in Cross Rows with her parents and 6 brothers and sisters although her brother James is no longer recorded.

I have found that her parent's have recorded a son James who dies at 35 Watson's Land aged 1 on 04/01/1901 DOB 17th or 20th November 1899 ( 35 Watson's Row). I am still looking into this and finding this part a mystery.

I would really just like to know of any records of them living in these homes and what their lives would have been like in Blantyre as it is a place I have never visited but hope to after lockdown. I have no photographs of any of the older generations on my family so would like to be able to try and understand and appreciate their lives this way.

Many thanks for your time and any information you can give me.

Your Great Gran is related to my husband family, his great grandfather was Patrick Mellon and great grandmother Annie Fallon. My husbands grandfather was born in 1901 so he must have been a younger brother of your great gran Mary.
