Helen married James McFadzen on 24th September 1877.

James died on 30th October 1877 from injuries he sustained in the Blantyre Pit disaster.

Helen was one of the widows evicted from her home, we are unable to find where she lived from then on.

She had two children, John born in 1878 and Elizabeth in 1882.

Both children are listed on their birth certificates as being illegitimate, however on John’s wedding certificate of 1903 his father is listed as Charles Stonebanks, coal miner.

We have been told that Charles Stonebanks’ father was also killed in the Blantyre Pit disaster.

We are unable to find any information on either of these men.

Helen went on to marry John Hoggan on 14th September 1883.

She died at Causeway End in 1941.
