My paternal great grandfather Andrew Whiteside and his young son were both victims of the 1877 mining disaster.    I wondered if you have any information on what became of his wife Elizabeth Chalmers.   I have tried to find out but I am not great on the Internet.   Their daughter Annie was my grandmother.

I would be grateful for any information.

Thank you,    Margaret Lyons.

Hello again Margaret, As I said I am also the great grandson of Elizabeth and Andrew Whiteside. Last detail I have of Annie is she was working as a servant at Kilmalcom Renfrewshire when she was 18. I dont have Annie's family listed in my tree. Is it possible you could send me details of her husband and descendants so I can update my tree on Ancestry. Did she leave Scotland or stay? Many questions I am happy to share what I have on the family. Three siblings  I know came to Australia and had families.. Look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks Andrew William Whiteside. awwhiteside@optusnet.com.au

Hi  Margaret, I am also a great grandson of Elizabeth Chalmers. I know she remarried a John Elliot after the mine disaster. I cant find anything other than a census record that may be her and records in the North Lanarkshire poor records of 1883. I would be grateful if you could pass any details to me if you manage to find anything your end. Best Wishes Andrew William Whiteside.     awwhiteside@optusnet.com.au
